The Cobra Aerojet fairway wood offers more forgiveness and high launch in a low profile package. Streamlined with a high-quality carbon crown, it delivers low spin for golfers that love using their fairway woods off the tee box.

Featuring a low profile to help get the face against the lower half of the golf ball, the Aerojet fairway also produces outstanding turf interaction.

With three models in this fairway wood product line, there’s something for everyone, but we feel the standard edition offers help to most golfers.

In this Cobra Aerojet fairway review, we’ll detail why this fairway wood delivers high ball speeds along with pure contact.

Cobra Aerojet Fairway Key Features

Cobra Aerojet Fairway Key Features

PWR-BRIDGE Weighting

The PWR-BRIDGE weight anchors the club head, allowing golfers to get underneath the golf ball with power.

The PWR-BRIDGE weight also sits behind, but not up against, the face. This positioning allows the face to fully flex at impact to help with energy transfer and provide a more forgiving face.

Adjustable Loft Sleeve

Each club in the Aerojet fairway woods range provides an adjustable sleeve that adds or subtracts 1.5 degrees of loft from the face. For golfers that like customization with their woods, the newest Cobra series helps craft the shot shape that works best for their game.

Back-Weighted Forgiveness

The standard Aerojet fairway woods utilize a single rear weight that lowers the CG and helps increase the launch off the club face. The 8-gram weight doesn’t reduce speed or produce a sluggish swing but helps power shots with authority.

Our In-Depth Cobra Aerojet Fairway Review

Looks

Although smaller than the Aerojet driver, the fairway model offers a similar color scheme but utilizes more white along the bottom of the club head.

The overall appearance works in concert with the other golf clubs in the Aerojet line, helping you produce a uniform appearance in your golf bag.

If you’ve read our other reviews of the Cobra Aerojet hybrids and the accompanying driver, then you know we don’t care for the blue striping against the red, black, and gray.

It’s possible that Cobra wanted their newest release to look different from the TaylorMade M4 and M6s, but adding blue to the color scheme isn’t for us.

Sound

When it comes to sound, these woods offer a clean, pleasing response that won’t hurt your ears. Every wood in this Aerojet range of fairway woods produces a smooth sound at impact, helping your overall feel and instantly alerting you when you produce off-center strikes.

With the wide hitting area, the sound stays consistent, even if you hit a shot off the toe of the wood. Our testers believed these Cobra woods deserved high praise for their superb sound.

Feel

When evaluating the feel for this Cobra Aerojet fairway wood, you must talk about how the face construction provides the foundation for how the club responds in the golfer’s hands. The weighting stabilizes the head to dampen vibration and increase feel and responsiveness.

Also, the stock shafts available in the Cobra Aerojet fairway woods include the MCA Kai’li 60 and UST Helium Nanocore 5F2. Either stock shaft provides excellent feedback and first-rate responsiveness for the price.

Performance

The new Aerojet range of fairways offers across the board performance improvements over 2021’s Radspeed series. For the standard version, the Cobra Aerojet fairway woods deliver outstanding distance gains from the short grass or tee box.

If you love hitting a non-driver wood off the tee box to increase your accuracy on the course, the Cobra fairway also produces a higher loft that helps create more launch with tighter shot dispersion.

Off the short grass, these Cobra clubs maintain high ball speeds with incredible turf interaction that prevents skidding or chunking. Our testers noted the rounded sole moves smoothly through the impact zone, helping their feel with the wood.

When it comes to the award for the most accessible wood out of the three Aerojet models, the standard version offers the most playability to the biggest pool of golfers.

From high handicappers to mid handicappers, golfers will find this fairway wood offers a nice complement of muscle and finesse.

Of the three models of this fairway series, the Aerojet Max offers dynamic draw-bias weighting to help high handicappers and beginners produce more distance and created far more precise accuracy.

With a weight stationed in the center rear of the sole and another placed by the hosel, players needing slice correction will feel the difference at impact with this first-rate wood.

For golfers that want lower spin with low launch, the LS model provides both with outstanding results.

Made for advanced players and professional golfers, the LS version lowers the overall rotation of the golf ball but doesn’t sacrifice a yard of distance from either the tee box or short grass.

The wood also holds two stationary weights along the lower heel and upper toe area to anchor the face and boost MOI at impact.

Specifications

  • Loft: 15-24°
  • Shaft Length: 41.5”-43”
  • Head Size: 148cc-176cc
  • Swing Weight: D1

Pros

  • Rear weight produces low, deep CG for easy launch
  • Shallow profile allows amateurs to easily square golf ball on face
  • Eight-position hosel offers total customization

Cons

  • Not as forgiving as other comparable fairway woods

The Ping G430 Max fairway provides golfers with a dynamic, well-crafted club that’s as big a weapon from the tee box as it is from the short grass facing the green.

My favorite characteristic of the club is its lightweight feel. As I swung the club, I always felt I could deliver maximum power to the golf ball. The wood instilled confidence with ideal results, such as a steep landing angle that holds on the green and lightning fast exit velocity.

Perhaps the biggest difference between the G430 Max and Aerojet comes with the eight-position hosel sleeve that provides players with the Ping club total customization of loft and lie angle.

On the Trackman, the G430 Max delivered exciting numbers, including jaw-dropping ball speed with a low penetrating flight that extended overall distance figures.

While I recommend the Aerojet for mid-to-high handicappers, the G430 Max fairway works best for advanced golfers who can work the ball from side to side or high to low.

Specifications

  • Loft: 15-21°
  • Shaft Length: 42”-43.25”
  • Head Size: N/A
  • Swing Weight: D2

Pros

  • Variable thickness face offers the ideal mixture of forgiveness and distance
  • High MOI offers premium accuracy from the tee box and fairway
  • Quick launch with maximum ball speed

Cons

  • Doesn’t inspire confidence like other top-tier fairways

The Wilson Dynapower, a simple, straightforward fairway wood, offers amateurs an affordable club that works admirably from the tee box and on entry shots into the green.

It offers rear weighting to move the CG deep and low in the club head, helping golfers produce effortless loft that translates into distance.

It also features a shallow profile, even more than previous Wilson fairway models, to get the face underneath the golf ball to produce better exit velocity and peak height.

Compared to the Aerojet, I felt the Dynapower didn’t instill the confidence or produce the “wow” factor of the Cobra model. I still believe if you are looking for a top-tier fairway on a budget, the Dynapower does offer the best value.

An excellent option for mid-to-high handicappers, the Dynapower fairway offers pure, clean distance with an easy launch.

Our Verdict

Much like the Aerojet hybrid, the fairway wood in this series offers a higher launch with mid-range spin. The club looks great in the bag and plays even better on the golf course.

During our testing, we loved how efficient these Cobra fairway clubs were from the fairways. Also, the Aerojet fairway offers an exciting option if you are looking for an alternative to a driver with more loft.

High handicappers will love the low profile that increases launch, while mid handicappers will find value in the adjustability and versatility of this wood.

Ideal for mid handicappers that want a great complement to their new irons, the Aerojet fairways qualify as premium golf equipment worth your consideration.
