Wilson Dynapower Fairway Wood Features

Advanced Tour-Inspired Head Shape

Designed for tour players, the new Wilson Dynapower fairways can’t make spin adjustments due to the lack of adjustability, but the aerodynamic head shape moves smoothly to the golf ball for maximum ball speeds.

At address, the head shape offers minimal offset to provide a clean look at the golf ball for quick alignment.

High MOI, Higher Launch Design

Featuring rear weighting, the head of the Wilson Dynapower woods offers a lethal combination of high MOI with a higher launch.

Wilson put the Dynapower line through an advanced computer design process that analyzed clubhead aesthetics to find the right design to produce a combination of maximum power and shot-shaping workability.

Multiple Loft & Shaft Options

Available in a 3-wood, 5-wood, and 7-wood, the Wilson Dynapower woods offer a nice assortment of distances to utilize long par 5s and when needing to hit the fairway on tight par 4s.

The Dynapower fairway features the Project X HZRDUS Smoke RED RDX shaft in three different flexes, weights, and a Lamkin Crossline 360 grip.

Our In-Depth Wilson Dynapower Fairway Review

Looks

Similar to the Wilson Dynapower drivers, the fairway wood utilizes the black and charcoal color foundation with red and white trim.

At address, the Wilson Dynapower fairway woods offer a clean black matte finish with a white alignment guide to mark the center of the face. The wood’s lack of offset helps get the club square at address, offering a better appearance before starting the golf swing.

Even though it’s hard to shake Wilson’s reputation of making budget golf clubs, we liked the appearance of the fairways in this series better than the Wilson Dynapower hybrids.

The fairways are relatively clean when it comes to the shaft and hosel. Since there’s no adjustable hosel on the Wilson Dynapower fairway woods and hybrids, the appearance of the woods isn’t overwhelming to the eye.

Sound

Wilson Golf designed the Dynapower fairway to deliver stability and consistency when it comes to sound. For the avid golfer, the fairways provide a deeper, more solid sound that suggests power similar to the new driver in the Dynapower series.

On center strikes, powered by the variable face thickness, the fairways offer the purest sound, although the quality of feedback doesn’t suffer on off-center strikes.

Generally, the entire line of Wilson Dynapower clubs, including the adjustable drivers, provide pleasing sound.

Feel

During our time with the Wilson Dynapower fairway line, our testers rated the feedback and responsiveness with high marks.

Noting that the new Dynapower fairways offer a pleasing response at impact, our testers appreciated how Wilson Golf crafted the club head so amateurs could get the most feel from the club possible with minimal drag on the downswing.

The dynamic face thickness helps with forgiveness, feel, and responsiveness. The variable thickness really comes through on impact strikes from the middle of the sweet spot.

Performance

Wilson Golf has created one of its best fairway woods yet with the Dynapower series. The low, long profile helps scoop balls cleanly off the short grass of the fairway with long, straight ball flight.

The Dynapower fairway woods also provide maximum forgiveness across the entire face. Since the face is shallow, the impact comes on the lower half of golf balls, helping power it skyward with maximum exit velocity.

Also, the Wilson Dynapower fairway wood’s internal weighting works with the low profile face to create shots with quick launch, even when the shot is sitting on the short grass.

In addition, the fairway woods feature rear weighting that lowers CG for a high flight that provides extended distance. For our mid handicap testers, the new Dynapower fairways minimized side spin keeping shots along the target line with precision and authority.

If you like using the intermediate woods from the tee box, these Wilson Dynapower woods provide tighter shot dispersion, placing more balls in the fairway for cleaner entry shots into the green.

The fairway wood also offers a steep landing angle, helping amateurs produce enough spin to hold greens after the shot hits the putting surface.

We can’t say that our testers were blown away by the Dynapower fairways, but if you are looking for clubs that won’t break the bank and get the job done, these woods are pretty good.

Pros

  • Solid build offers powerful energy transfer to golf ball
  • Stiff head provides a solid feel at impact
  • Generates tons of distance with impressive accuracy

Cons

  • Tough to work the ball from side to side

Callaway’s Paradym fairway, a sledgehammer of a golf club, offers power to the golfers that need it the most. Built like a tank, it provides enough shot customization to help you increase launch.

The wide sweet spot also offers power with low spin, even on off-center strikes.

While the Paradym certainly packs a punch, I felt the fairway wood could be a little stiff if you like the softness and enhanced feel.

I also enjoyed how the Paradym extended carry and boosted the overall distance on the Trackman. The wood definitely sparkles when used on any launch monitor.

Compared to the Dynapower, the Callaway Wood provides more distance with better launch and extended carry.

From the tee box and fairway, the Paradym offers a dynamic combination of power and impressive turf interaction.

Specifications

  • Loft: 15-24°
  • Shaft Length: 41.5”-43”
  • Head Size: 148cc-176cc
  • Swing Weight: D1

Pros

  • Low tungsten back weight provides high launch
  • Eight position hosel sleeve for customized loft and lie angle
  • Exceptional forgiveness with reduced spin off the face

Cons

  • Cluttered color scheme and appearance

Ping’s G430 Max fairway provides an all-around solid experience from the tee box and fairway. Powered by its aerodynamic head, it offers superior workability, high-grade distance, and forgiveness.

The wood provides golfers with a tungsten back weight that increases launch by deepening CG, providing better consistency. The G430 Max has an eight-position hosel sleeve that can tweak loft and lie angle to your specifications.

When looking at the G430 Max against the Dynapower, I was struck by the Ping’s ability to shape the shots I wanted.

Whether I wanted to move the ball from left to right or even adjust the shot height to penetrate wind, the G430 Max delivered better overall performance versus the Dynapower.

While the Dynapower offers a better value than the G430 Max, the Ping wood’s ability to transform your game, especially if you’re a mid to low handicapper remains unquestioned.

Our Verdict

After our time with these fairway woods, we found the new Wilson Dynapower fairways delivered low spin, an advanced tour-inspired shape that gets under the golf ball for a quick lift, and ultra-fast ball speeds.

Ideal for mid to high handicappers, the Wilson fairways work incredibly hard to deliver maximum ball speed, even on off-center hits.

The very forgiving high launch angle extends carry and makes these fairway woods a highly usable piece of golf equipment, even from the tee box.

Are there better, more sophisticated 2023 fairway woods on the market? Yes, but none of them deliver the value that the Wilson Dynapower fairway woods can provide for their game and their wallet.
