The full-grain leather upper provided excellent water resistance and durability. We found the cushioned insole exceptionally comfortable, offering great support during long rounds.

The TPU outsole with low-profile Pulsar cleats provided reliable traction in various conditions. After a few swings, we felt more confident about unleashing our full swing speed due to the premium traction system.

While not as lightweight as some modern golf shoes, we appreciated the sturdy feel and traditional aesthetic. These women’s golf shoes also felt true to size but did require more break-in time than modern synthetic models.

  • Material: Synthetic Leather
  • Traction: Spiked
  • Waterproof Warranty: Not Waterproof

Pros

  • Easy to put on quickly
  • Allows air on feet at all times

Cons

  • The sandal design doesn’t offer waterproof protection

We approached the FootJoy Women’s Golf Sandal with skepticism but were pleasantly surprised by its performance.

The open design provided unmatched breathability, making these ideal for hot summer rounds. The spikes do make it difficult to comfortably wear these sandals off the course, so prepare accordingly once your round is over.

Despite the sandal style, we found them to offer good stability during our swings, thanks to the Duramax rubber outsole featuring the well-made Pulsar cleats. The cushioned midsole provided ample comfort for walking the course.

While not suitable for wet conditions or formal golf events, these sandals excelled in casual, warm-weather rounds.

As with any golf shoe sandal, you should check to make sure you can wear them at the golf club you are looking to play.

We also loved the easy on/off design and how the adjustable straps provided a customized fit.

The Footjoy Golf Sandal is an excellent option for women golfers who want to keep cool without sacrificing performance. We recommend using these as alternative golf shoes for your local course.

Specifications

  • Material: Full-grain leather
  • Traction: Spikeless
  • Waterproof Warranty: 1 year

Pros

  • Classic, traditional style with modern feminine flair
  • Durable full-grain leather upper
  • Firm ProFoam Midsole cushioned entire foot

Cons

  • Stiff leather takes time to break in

We were impressed by the classic, traditional design of the Puma Avant Women’s Golf Shoe. At first glance, these golf shoes deliver both style and functionality.

The golf shoe offers premium durability via its full-grain waterproof leather upper. The leather also offers a stylish exterior for women golfers looking to accessorize their outfits to the club.

The ProFoam midsole stays rigid and supportive, even if you want to walk the course. The midsole stays connected to your foot, providing the right amount of softness and comfort with each step.

If there’s an issue with the Avant women’s golf shoes, it comes from the tougher leather and how long the shoe takes to break in. But that’s only a temporary issue that quickly resolves itself after a few rounds of wear.

As we stated earlier, the fit remains comfortable throughout the round, from the first tee to the 18th hole.

  • Traction: Spikeless
  • Waterproof Warranty: 1 year

Pros

  • Arch Fit insole offers outstanding arch support
  • Very lightweight feel
  • Easily replaceable insole keeps feet fresh

Cons

  • Doesn’t have the style or swagger of comparable golf shoes

We found the Skechers GO GOLF Max 3 to be a comfortable and reliable spikeless option.

The ULTRA FLIGHT cushioning provided exceptional comfort right out of the box, with no break-in period required. We appreciated the lightweight design, which offered a roomy toe box without sacrificing overall fit.

The Arch Fit insole provided additional cushioning and support, making these women’s golf shoes ideal for walking 18 holes.

Skechers has also made the insole easy to replace, so you can keep your feet fresh with quick insole changes along the way.

The spikeless TPU grip outsole performed well on dry courses, but we noticed some slight slippage in wet conditions.

The water-resistant leather upper kept our feet dry, although we’d like something longer than the one year warranty.

While these shoes might not have the curb appeal of other spikeless shoes on this list, the GO GOLF Max 3 women’s golf shoes deliver a lightweight feel and a fatigue-free golfing experience.

How We Tested the Women’s Golf Shoes

Our testing process for women’s golf shoes is comprehensive and designed to evaluate each pair across multiple criteria.

We begin by putting together a panel of women golfers, from low-handicap players to weekend enthusiasts, to ensure a well-rounded assessment.

Each tester wears the women’s golf shoes for at least three full rounds of golf plus additional practice sessions, allowing us to gauge initial impressions and long-term comfort.

We evaluate the women’s golf shoes on various course conditions to assess traction and stability.

Our testers focus on critical factors, including comfort and fit, stability and traction, waterproofing, breathability, durability, and style and versatility.

Since most golf is played in the summer, heat management is another crucial factor we evaluate. We also look for signs of wear and tear over multiple uses, giving us insight into the shoes’ durability.

Each pair’s appearance and versatility are considered, as many golfers prefer shoes that can transition seamlessly from the course to the clubhouse.

For women’s golf shoes with unique features, such as BOA lacing systems or specialized sole designs, we conduct specific tests to evaluate their effectiveness.

Finally, we consider each pair’s price point to determine its overall value.

This testing approach ensures our recommendations are based on real-world performance and practical considerations, helping women golfers make informed decisions about their golf shoes.

How to Choose the Best Womens Golf Shoes

Waterproofing

Let’s be honest here. No one wants to get their feet wet when playing golf. There is nothing worse than walking off the first tee box and having the damp grass make your socks get soggy.

Luckily for the golfer, manufacturers have made huge advancements in waterproofing technology over the past decade, giving the player many options in footwear that will keep their feet dry throughout their round.

Waterproofing has become one of the essential features of modern golf footwear.

Insole

The insole is the area that wraps around the foot. It is responsible for providing a snug fit to prevent the foot from sliding around during the swing, but it also handles the shoe’s comfort level and breathability features.

All golfers want an insole area that immediately responds with a comfortable feel and durability that reduces strain and stress on the foot as the player walks the course.

A well-made insole will accommodate the golfer’s stance by providing exceptional balance throughout all aspects of the swing.

Outsole

The outsole is responsible for turf interaction, traction, and waterproofing. The outer layer of the shoe that covers the top of the foot is the area treated to keep water from entering the footwear.

Whether the material is leather or a synthetic hybrid, the layer must have a suppleness that works well with the shoe and does not create resistance on each step.

On the bottom of the foot, golfers will find either a spiked or spikeless sole that interacts with the turf and is specifically responsible for traction.

Regardless of what type of sole you prefer, the shoe must anchor the golfer to the ground to provide additional traction and maintain balance in the swing.

Price

The price of golfing footwear is essential to every amateur golfer. What golfers want from their shoes is high performance at the most affordable price. By saving money, golfers can dedicate more of their disposable income to finding golfing equipment to help their game.

When we evaluate the price, we also look at the value the shoe provides for the final price.

Comfort

Every golfer wants footwear that is comfortable and fun to wear. The days when golfers wore tough leather that took months to break in are long gone, and for this generation of weekend warriors, that is a welcome innovation.

Finding comfortable golf footwear combines a flexible outsole and a soft and welcoming insole.

Of course, performance is still king when it comes to footwear for the course, but it doesn’t hurt if the shoe can easily handle walking 18 holes without creating blisters and hot spots on the heel and pressure points of a golfer’s feet.

Questions & Answers

How do golf shoes help?

Golf shoes help by providing comfort to the foot and allowing the golfer to anchor their body to the ground while swinging.

Golfing footwear comes in either spiked or spikeless options, but both types of footwear give the golfer a foundation that boosts traction and keeps them anchored to the ground as they swing the golf club.

For walking golfers, a comfortable golf shoe can reduce the strain on the foot while maintaining traction to the ground and keeping the player free from blisters for their entire round.

Why should I wear golf shoes?

You should wear women’s golf shoes because they help maintain balance and traction throughout the swing. Golfers who play in non-spiked shoes, such as running shoes, tend to slip and slide on the course, losing valuable traction, especially in wet conditions.

By finding a quality pair of spiked footwear, the golfer allows the lower half of the body to stay grounded and quiet throughout the swing for a better fundamental approach to creating solid contact.

What golf shoes do most pros wear?

Most professional golfers play with footwear provided by larger companies such as Adidas and FootJoy that are on the high end of the price scale. Professionals choose these brands that have more to do with sponsorship deals than actual performance.

That isn’t to say that these companies make bad shoes, as it is usually quite the opposite, as Adidas and FootJoy both have the reputation of producing high-quality, high-performance women’s golf shoes that are reasonable in price.

But in the end, all golfers should find the shoe that is right for their foot based on feel and comfort.
