Taylormade Stealth 2 Fairway Key Features

Taylormade Stealth 2 Fairway V Steel

Steel Sole Design

Featuring a rounded sole, the TaylorMade Stealth 2 glides over the grass and through the light rough with ease, helping deliver more center-cut strikes to the golf ball.

With outstanding interaction that won’t snag or chop into the soil, the sole offers clean club interaction with the ball.

Inverted Cone Technology

By making the entire hitting area thinner, TaylorMade deployed their patented ICT to lighten the club face while making it stronger.

The ICT helps make TaylorMade fairway woods some of the most forgiving golf clubs for professionals and amateurs alike.

Laser Etched Alignment System

With the smaller club head of the Stealth 2 fairways, hitting the center of the face is incredibly important, so the company created a laser etching system along the top of the crown to help golfers align the face to the ball efficiently and correctly.

Our In-Depth Taylormade Stealth 2 Fairway Wood Review

Looks

At first glance, we loved the look of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood club head. Like most TaylorMade fairway woods, the Stealth 2 fairway offers a streamlined design that utilizes the red and black with a sleek appearance ready to crush shots.

After we spent more time with the club, we were even more pleased with how sophisticated the look of the Stealth 2 line of secondary woods.

Sound

The Stealth 2 fairway, and its brothers, including the Stealth 2 HD fairway, all offer a crisp, clean sound that works very well on the golf course.

On shots that strike the sweet spot, the Stealth 2 fairway wood sounds pure, instilling infectious confidence that coincides with the first-rate feel and responsiveness we’ll discuss in the next section.

Even when the impact point gets away from the intended area, the sound doesn’t ring hollow or hurt the ears. Although you may feel your shot off the toe, you won’t be punished by having to hear it.

Feel

During our testing, our golfers adored the feel and responsiveness of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway.

Even on off-center hits, where the impact strays toward the toe, the ball speed stays high with minimal vibration, a delightful combination that can dramatically help weekend warriors.

We also preferred the immediate feedback of this wood when it came to ball striking, allowing our testers to make adjustments as they saw fit during their sessions on the range and once they put the wood into play.

Performance

The club performs beautifully from the short grass of a golf course’s fairways. The V-Steel Sole offers premium club interaction with the soil that keeps the face low and under the golf ball.

Much like the Stealth 2 driver, the standard secondary wood from TaylorMade delivers power with a quick launch that maximizes carry distance.

We also liked how the Fujikura Speeder NX stock shaft and Golf Pride Z-Grip Plus2 Grip felt during the swing. And a new 3D carbon crown also pulls mass from the hitting area, helping balance the club head through the impact zone with high MOI.

One of the best secondary woods currently available in the golf industry, the TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood produces exceptional ball speeds and offers even more forgiveness than last year’s Stealth fairway wood.

Specifications

  • Loft: 15-21°
  • Shaft Length: 42”-43”
  • Head Size: 158cc-168cc
  • Swing Weight: D3

Pros

  • Adjustable hosel sleeve offers customized loft and spin
  • Low, forward CG produces tighter dispersion with fast ball speed
  • PWR-Bridge weighting increases face flex for terrific forgiveness

Cons

  • Doesn’t have the impressive clean design as competitors

The Cobra Aerojet offers amateurs a solidly built fairway wood with a sleek, aerodynamic head that generates a ton of swing speed for an extended distance. It provides mid-to-high handicappers with consistent performance from either the tee box or the fairway.

The wood comes with an adjustable hosel sleeve that alters loft up to 1.5 degrees in either direction. Its carbon crown and sole offer impressive turf interaction with top-tier feel and responsiveness.

Compared to the Stealth 2, I feel the Aerojet doesn’t produce the distance, but it’s as accurate as its TaylorMade counterpart. I also liked how smoothly the club swings and how effortlessly it lifts the golf ball at impact.

Offering an excellent package for golfers with handicaps between 10-20, the Aerojet fairway produces solid results with the power to burn.

Specifications

  • Loft: 15-21°
  • Shaft Length: 42”-43.25”
  • Head Size: N/A
  • Swing Weight: D2

Pros

  • Low, shallow profile offers a wide sweet spot
  • Rear weight deepens CG for easy high launch
  • Premium turf interaction produces clean contact

Cons

  • Looks cheaper than comparable fairway woods

The Wilson Dynapower fairway provides impressive performance at a lower price than the Stealth 2.

I really enjoyed the width of the Dynapower’s face because it provided first-rate forgiveness while broadening the sweet spot. The rounded sole delivers exceptional turf interaction that cleanly moves the club head to the golf ball, even if you are hitting off the deck.

Compared to the Stealth 2, the Dynapower feels slightly disappointing if you don’t have the right frame of mind when playing with the Wilson fairway wood.

This affordable wood doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the Stealth 2, and that’s okay if you are looking for an affordable club that can produce reliable distance and accuracy.

Best for high handicappers, the Dynapower fairway produces solid results from the tee box with tight dispersion that keeps your ball on the short grass.

Our Verdict

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood is one of the most forgiving fairway woods of 2023. As powerful as the Stealth 2 driver, the fairway wood model offers lower CG to help increase flight from the short grass or tee box.

If you are a low handicapper or experienced golfer, please note that we feel the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, featuring the 50-gram sliding weight, is one of our favorite fairway woods and pieces of golf equipment of all time.

But the standard model offers similar high ball speeds, dynamic striking, and high forgiveness on thin strikes to the Plus model.

Another winner from TaylorMade, the Stealth 2 fairway wood delivers crisp, high shot flight that lands with a steep landing angle, helping you stick more shots onto the green on your next trip to the golf course.
